A cooperation agreement has been signed in Tangier (Morocco) between the Tangier Mediterranean Special Agency (TMSA), the Bay of Algeciras Port Authority (APBA), the Dover Harbour Board (DHB), the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Calais and the Nord-Pas
The development of new port and logistics offers on the Strait of Gibraltar has led the port and concessionary authorities of the ports of Tangier Med (Morocco), Algeciras (Spain), Dover and Calais to coordinate, beginning in 2006, a common policy analysis to meet the requirements for facilities and handled cargo.

In Tangier on Wednesday 11 June, this policy analysis basing on issues resulted in the signature of a quadripartite agreement which will enable close cooperation between the four ports on the areas of marketing and commercial development, as well as security and the management of ro-ro terminals.

The ceremony took place at the Tangier Mediterranean Special Agency headquarters in the presence of the Minister for Transport of the Kingdom of Morocco and their excellencies the Ambassadors to Morocco of France, the United Kingdom and Spain, and Mr. Saïd Elhadi, President of the TMSA Executive Committee.

The delegation from the Port of Calais was led by Mr. Jean-Marc Puissesseau, President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Calais, and by a representative of the Regional Council and Advisor to Mr. Daniel Percheron, President of the Nord-Pas-de-Calais Region.

During his speech before the leaders and the delegations of the three other ports, President Jean-Marc Puissesseau recalled that this signature marked a very important step for the Port of Calais, which has focused its development strategy on the "Calais Port 2015" project. The signature of the Agreement concretised cooperation projects on shared issues (the safety and security of both port facilities and the passengers and goods which pass through our ports), and also opened the door to promising commercial development projects, especially when considering the global ambitions of the "Tangier Mediterranean" port project, as well as the desire of the Port of Algeciras to promote "Shortsea" type links with northern Europe.
