Wastewater from careening contains highly toxic pollutants (paint particles, anti-fouling particles, solvents, oils, hydrocarbon, etc.) that are harmful to the environment.
To put an end to unauthorised ship careening and to preserve water quality, the Port of Calais has equipped itself with a physic-chemical process treatment plant built by the SAINT DIZIER ENVIRONNEMENT company.
Work began in early 2007 and was completed in summer of the same year. Commissioning is scheduled for mid-April 2008. |
